Palm Pre - shall I get one??

I'd just about decided to get a Palm Pre but now they have launched the Palm Pre Plus - only in the States so far but surely it will come over here....Are the differences enough to make me wait? Will most of the improvements be available on the Pre with updates?
I just can't decide if I should wait or jump....
I like the look of the little button on the pre and that has gone on the plus but it has better build quality (allegedly?) and maybe a better keyboard...
    HELP ME!

Quidco is offering £100.00 cashback on the Palm Pre if you take out a contract with O2

    Hope that helps...

dont get one, get iphone, hope that helps.

Honestly, I normally get bored of my phone after a few weeks but the iphone has so much to do and so many apps you han install, it must be impossible
to get bored of it and there is no phone out there that i would get to replace the iphone.

Ahhh...you see now you are tempting me more...repped for deal - thanks...
I don't like the iphone - too square - the pre feels like a pebble in your hand...
Does anyone with a pre have a view on the new version?

Palm Pre is an amazing handset and dont let ANY IPHONE lovers tell you its not as good as iphone. Seriously im bored seeing all these 40 something women on here saying "iphone iz amazin you can do loads of things on it well gud"

Some of us want something that inst locked down by apple. That doesnt rape your bank account cost wise and something that isnt so damn common that all the jobseekers have it.

I swear if one more iphone user shoves their ibeer app in my face on more time i will knock them out!!!

Im an iphone user btw but switching to N1.

I love my iphone for one reason - its a ipod phone. I only need one device in my pocket to make calls, browse the internet, check my email and listen to my massive mp3 collection. But I regret being locked into ipod and itunes. The eq (or lack of) is really pishing me off now and Im starting to dislike touch screen everything & anything. Theres a good reason we still use click keyboards on computers......
And in 2 years of owning an iphone Ive not really used any app that I couldnt live without. I may just bail out and get a simple candy bar phone that makes calls and doesnt cost me a fortune to own

Not any help I know - just my little rant (sorry). I tryed the Pre as soon as it came out and it wasnt an iphone, in a bad way. I wanted to like the Pre - I want to jump ship from the iphone, if only for a change but nothing has come close to the slick touch interface of the iphone. I also thought the pre felt cheap and wouldnt probably regret a puchase withing 6 months. The slide out keyboard is no better than the older slide Samsungs and too small to be practical (especially for my fat thumbs).

Reading this all back to myself I sound like a iphone fanboy but nothing has come close for me that would make me not say "I wish I hadn't got rid of my iphone". Before my iphone I had much love for over 2 years for the Motorola Razr - now that was a well made product.

So the obvious thing to say is: "it depends what you want from a phone"

Thanks for all the helpful comments - have repped you. Until now I have really only used my phone to make phone calls, to text and to take the odd photo. I feel it is now time to make the Great Leap Forward and so want to find a phone that will allow me to email - work and social (exchange and gmail) - to browse the web, take photos, listen to music...not that bothered about games. I don't want an iphone as I am SO fed up with being shown opther people's iphones and would be forced to get mine out to compare!

I saw the palm pre in cpw and it felt really nice in my hand....thats about as sophisticated as my search has been so far! I like the keyboard, and the look of it. I'm more than happy (indeed very grateful) for any suggestions of other/better phones.
    Thanks again...

iPhone is nice device... but if its to use as a phone, dont buy one.

I've personally had 4, which have all suffered with missed calls even though the reception shows 100%.

    Get the Palm-Pre or HD2.

Thanks Guv, I haven't looked at the HD2 yet, I guess I'm going to have to start hanging around in phone shops...

How big are your thumbs? :-D

I liked the palm pre, but i have fairly big hands you found the keyboard really difficult to use because the buttons are tiny.

    Just a consideration

I have quite small thumbs I think. I did call in to cpw after work and have a go at "typing" on the palm but it was a bit tricky as the wire holding it to the wall wasn't very long. It wasn't helped by some 12 year old assistant who kept saying "that is the palm pre, that is the palm pre" as if I didn't know/couldn't read! I also had a look at the nokia n97 mini which I liked the look of but I've looked at reviews since I got home and they aren't good.
