    Panic!!! Red ring of death on the xbox 360

    I'd appreciate any help on the matter...basically I bought a 20gb version off a mate a few months back...just now I've got the dreaded ring of death.

    My question is; what is microsoft's repair policy - ie the console is a few yrs old and I have none of the paperwork to prove ownership? Do I have a leg to stand on...I believe it's one of the first versions where this was common.

    Any help would be appreciated - I just can't bare the thought of having to spend time with the relatives this xmas

    nightmare.....i had to send my sons back 2wice........they are fast/pick up/repair/wait about 2 weeks/return........but thats in warranty..they extended alot with the RROD....your im afraid wont be under warranty so...um....sorry.......you could call the helpline and have a go but i doubt they will help

    ask your mate if he has a reciept ?

    Microsoft wanted £60 for a repair for mine out of warranty. I told them I was buying PS3 stuff from now on.

    whats the Manufacture date on the console . i may buy off you if ya interested in gettin rid of it...

    just call microsoft i had the problem ,, no receipt a cpl years old ,, and they got the serial number from me and great they said no problem , arranged collection , mended it , returned it all within 10 days

    They extended the warranty for the red ring of death to 3 years. Any other fault is covered for 1 year. But as mentioned previously, either ring up the xbox helpline or register your console online. They'll be able to tell you if you can get it fixed for free. You won't need proof of purchase either. :thumbsup:

    If it doesnt work for you, just get your mate to send it off. If its the 3rrod then it should still be covered, unless your mate bought it when it first came out.

    pretty sure the 360 hasnt been out for 3 years yet so all of 'em are still under the 3 rrod 3 year warranty,

    360 came out in 2005. Its been 3 years.

    Christmas day, Red ring of death, can you believe it!?

    No real warnings unlike the last time it screwed up. Ive had it for over 18 months, what are the chances that Currys will replace it for a second time? I still have the receipt etc.
