    parents getting wrecked by b.t broad band, is it easy to leave cos of announced price hike (any help appreciated)

    Parents getting ripped off by b.t and tangled up in their customer service web, I've heard customer s can leave due to announced price hike within 30 days or something

    I'm just not sure if parents have

    1. Received letter

    2. Been shot in the foot by b.t perhaps "helping" them by changing their contract to prevent them leaving now

    Any help appreciated

    I've left due to price hike. Waiting to see if they charge me the whole amount which is what these big companies tend to do and hen you have to chase it back.

    Typically 30day window from price rise notification to terminate contract early with no termination fee. Have a look at the notification, or ask the customer/authorised person to request clarification of when any(?) notification was sent.

    left on Sunday just looking for new deal was offered an offer to stay but didn't suit so handed notice in.. I used chat and when I confirmed I was leaving the called me. so worth doing it that way..

    Left BT to go to Vodafone for my fibre & to save £23 pcm. Although accepted by Vodafone received voicemail 4 days later saying street cabinet full & I couldn't have fibre anymore. Rang BT back & negotiated £9 discount but still miffed with Vodafone for accepting my order then dropping me like a hot potato by voicemail. At least it wasn't by text.

    Best thing to do is pretend you are your father & to ring BT saying you want to vancel. If they have already dpoken to your Dad & sold him another contract there will be an email or a paper trail.

    I'm not leaving my deals too good paying £25 per month for phone, calls & 40Mbps fibre on top of that I got £200 cashback plus £100 gift card too.

    Even after the price increase I'm still quids in, signed up at right time.

    I looked at upgrading to 80Mbps but it'd put my bill up from £25 to £65 as it'd break the "deal"

    If it's anything like last time, I left BT due to price hike last time & they hounded me to the end of the Earth for £300 they reckon I owed them.

    Wrote back dozens of times saying sod off you breached the contract by charging for BT sport mid contract when it was free and they'd just ignore me & send more.

    They then sent debt collectors letters & all sorts, eventually I got fed up & emailed the CEO of BT Group & it stopped immediately

    A colleague at work was telling me about this today. He's just left his contract after the price hike. BT customer services told him they were not obliged to tell customers that a price rise incurs no early leaving penalty. But, indeed, if you ask to leave within 30 days of an increase and you are clear about the reason you are leaving, you will not incur any early leaving charges.

    You have 30 days from being notified of the rise to leave or cancel, you must contact them before otherwise the early termination charges will apply.

    Company charged customer for exceeding pre-agreed contractual allowances. Seems reasonable. If an issue, presumably it would have been addressed on receipt of first bill occurrence. If there is a vulnerability issue where the customer does not understand the service allowances / billing, the customer can authorise addition of another person to the account, where that person can arrange appropriate contractural allowances / billing structure / service provider. If adding additional person, please be mindful of potential impact on account holder(s); archived HUKD example: archive.is/4BoCT and archive.is/b2vvn
