Paris - Hotels and Airport help

Thinking about visiting Paris on a weekend break.

Has anyone got any suggestions where to stay and what to do?

Also, will be flying to Paris Orly so wanted to know what the best way to get into Paris was? Public transport or taxi?

We stay at an Ibis Budget hotel about three stops on the metro from Gare du Nord. Small, basic but clean rooms for about £50/night.
Do? Loads of museums and attractions! If you plan to visit a few, maybe worth buying a Paris Visite card - will depend on what you want to see and over how many days to work out cost effectiveness. Failing that, to get around central Paeris, buy a carnet of 10 tickets at any Metro.
If you want to visit the Eifel Tower, buy tickets online at least three weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait a couple of hours.
Quickest route into Paris will be by RER.

I'm just on my phone at the mo but will try to pop back with some hotels I have used.

My main advice would be not to worry about been too close to the centre. The metro system in Paris is fantastic you can get around the city realty easily and cheaply using it.

Also I wouldn't try to cram in all the touristy things in one go. You will end up going back(it's a beautiful city) I enjoyed it much more on my second visit when I was a bit more relaxed and didn't have a strict plan to stick to! And finally.. A lot of people will say it's expensive and on the main streets it can be, but if you go a few streets away from the main tourist places meals are very reasonable.
