Many thanks

I thought that this was just offered by normal driving instructors so you just pay their normal rate. I don't think its a stnd alone thing.

That's what I thought, but they are charging £22 (average) a lesson for 6 lessons
I only paid £17 per lesson before I passed my test!

Seems like a bit of a con
Have you seen the offer of £70 back for people in London ]here

...have you checked with the insurance companies if you will actually save anything??? I learnt in Leeds on 3 to 4 lane 'dual carriageways'.(basically almost a motorway)..also learnt in winter so did the night driving...my instructor took me through the city for city driving during lessons anyways so i wouldnt have learnt a lot from the pass plus...also i checked with the isurance companies i wanted to go with and they didnt offer a discount anyway...would have just been a bit of a waste of money for me, so worth checking!!!

It's normally around the £130 mark. It normally works out slightly more expensive than the normal lesson price because one of the main focusses is Motorway driving (higher speeds so high fuel consumption).

You should find that you get at least this amount back in respect of a discount from your insurer (depends on who you are insured with, not all have bought into the scheme). So in reality you get six hours further training for nothing. Invaluable especially if you are near motorways!

not necessarily invaluable if you have learnt on motorway type roads already....10mph is the only difference really nothing else to it

Thank you all
So in theory you are saying it is better off for me not to go for Pass Plus? I am 28, I am also looking for a cheap second hand car.
I never had a car before and can anyone tell me what car is good to get? Just something cheap to start with, what should I be looking for?
If someone could help I d be gratefully appreciated!
eg Brand/Model, good insurance company, etc.

Where do you get 10mph from,??

You'll have had experience of Dual Carriage ways at 70MPH. The main difference is the the extra lane, three lanes requires a much better all round awareness as you can potentially have traffic over/undertaking on both sides. Just go for a trip along the M25 to see the difference!

Surely it' better to experience this the first time with the added safety of an instructor with dual controls. Especially if the insurance company end up paying for it!?

I would say dont go for it...waste of money but it depends on how confident you are as a driver...Im 20 and went with 'The Green Insurance Company' for my insurance...that was the cheapest i could find, and didnt screw me over because of the car been modded!
