]clicky this details how long each method takes

If your going in a weeks time you have no chance at all the only way you will have a chance of getting a passport is going down to Peterborough and seeing them there and that will cost you and thats by appointment only. The wait for the passport now wont be long as the main summer holidays are over so they wont be overloaded. When the Missis ordered her passport renewal the start of the year it was back in around 8 days which was very fast i also had to renew mine last April and that took around 10days.

If your going away in a week you have serious problems it will take overnight to post the application in so there will be a minimum of 1-2 days for them to process it then they will send your documents back first with the passport to follow within a day or 2 even if you pay for secure return you still have no chance as a week is 7days but 2 are weekend so i would recommend if its needed you need to contact the passport office and then go and do it there and that's the only way you might get one.

-Does that mean you managed to get it the same day?

You may not get it in a day though as it is their first passport. I think it took about 2 weeks to get my daughters back. We went away when she was 5 weeks old and had it back in plenty of time. Your best bet is to give them a call in the morning

you need to go to your nearest passport office, it's the only way to get one at such short notice

When my son needed a passport I just called for an appointment that afternoon, showed documents in Peterborough and passport was delivered next morning by one of those Corsa driving, 'pin money' couriers.
