    passport / kids question

im looking to take my son (will be 6) from glasgow airport to CDG paris (eurodisney) in july and it occurs to me that he does not have a passport, obviously I need to get the ball rolling with this, a friend says I can add him to mine, is this true?

that would be a no then, thankyou for the uberquick reply .... have some rep

NO - Everyone has to hold their own passports now - even babies

Seems crazy - I got my daughters and sons done both when they were around 6months old... My sons has now been updated now he's 6 - but my daughter is flying out this year - and who could ever tell the baby was her? LOL.

Anyway thats the way it is!

Just as an add it's taking about two weeks at the mo to get a new passport a lot longer as it moves towards Easter and then summer,if it was me i would get it done soon

yeah thanks i'll get on that tomorrow on my day off

No you cannot add your child anymore which to say the least is daft! My little girl was 5 months when we had her passport done last year so when we go away next week it will be stupid cos she looks totally different!
Have a great time at euro-disney - I went when it 1st opened and loved it!

Make sure when you show birth certificate you take/show the full one (has parents details on it). I just got a passport for my son and it took 2 extra weeks as we only had the short birth certificate and had to spend £25 quid getting a full one!

Applying for pasports for my kids which is quite pricey, but spoke to passport people and said there is a turn around of 6 weeks so you need to send them of sooner rather then later! Have a lovely time.

don't know if you know about applying online for a passport i did this recently when my wee fellas passport expired, forms all come through the post filled in and you then send off with relevant documents.

thanks for the advice and good wishes everyone, I sure hope it'll be one to remember for all the right reasons

yeah iv just getting ours, you need full birth certs with parents details on cost us £7 each for full certificates, make sure you get a few spare passport forms as so easy to make mistakes
    have a great time

edit - you need a full birth certificate if born after 31 dec 1982

if born before 1 jan 1983 just need a short or adoption cert

i got my little ones full birth certificate when we registered him cost 6 quid.. just got my kids passports back within a week .. bit silly & i think they only last 5 years

Yeah very silly - I checked my little 1's the other night and it only lasts 5 years but then considering we got it when she was so little I guess thats noy a bad thing cos it already looks totally different! Just another way to get more money out of us all!
