    thanks,just wondering how it works!

It is a secure site that you put your bank details on and then do tranactions through it instead of giving your details to all that you do transactions with - do you get me?
    I'm C**P at explaining!!

    I use paypal also.
Never had a problem with them and the one time i did have a problem with someone i bought something from paypal found in my favour and i was refunded in full.

its as safe as any other online paypal method, just use common sense and you should be ok.
    Don't ship to Nigeria

Q - How does PayPal work?
A - PayPal can be used to send and receive payments online. Once you sign up for PayPal, you can send money to anyone with an email address. You can use money from your PayPal balance or from another payment method of your choice, such as a credit card, debit card or your bank account. Recipients are then notified by email that they have received a payment from you

thanks for all the replys,i was looking on the sign up page and its coming up with errors on page,is that dodgy,

No don't be silly, it will just be and computer/site error nothing to worry bout!

"one time i did have a problem with someone i bought something from paypal found in my favour and i was refunded in full."

That's the thing - if there is a dispute they nearly always favour the buyer. It's not neccesarily a very secure method if you are a seller so my advice would be BEWARE.

You aren't always covered by their 'seller protection policy' and it only applies if you are shipping to a UK or US address.

Just NEVER :-( click on any links sent in email. If you know where you are going you can type it straight into the address box and bookmark it or send a shortcut to desktop to put your details into in future. As a seller id much prefer to receive the money by bank transfer. As a buyer id rather pay with paypal:whistling:

    DONT USE PAYPAL.
i cannot stress how bad they are.

An idea of why might be helpful to the OP.
I've done thousands of transactions through them and rarely had a problem, I've found that as long as you are sensible and follow the rules you don't get problems.

but you give a complete stranger a cheque with your sortcode / account number on.

it is perfectly safe as they can only transfer funds into your account, not the other way around.

Thats the biggest load of B*** ive ever heard. What about if you send someone money to their email address and the transaction has nothing to do with eBay......where do you leave feedback then??

There is absolutely nothing wrong with paypal.......its the people that use it that makes the problem.

Its like anything to do with paying people, if you are happy to accept three times as much for an item that you have to send to africa before you receive full payment. Then two months down the line they take the payment back off you.....what the hell do you expect!

I have used paypal for 4 years on 3 seperate ebay accounts and not had one single problem, and i have sold to people all over the world.

It is safe, and as long as you are on the ball, (which everyone should be when dealing with their own money!) you wont have a problem.

well ive said it about 1000 times but ill say it again.

I was owed 110 quid by paypal for 6 months until i was allowed to retrieve it. the account was frozen cos i logged onto it from two seperate computers and even after following all the things to un freeze it such as sending in documents confirming card dteils and home adress they just sent an email basically saying: wait 6 months for your money.

    absoloute douche bags.

I quite agree. I cleared out all my old PC games a year or two ago on ebay and paypal froze my account for 6 months with £260 in it until I could provide receipts for all the games I had sold (about 30 of them over 2 months).

I couldnt and they refused to listen to reason.

To everyone who says they are great and they have never had a problem - they are fine until something goes wrong out of the blue. There are whole websites dedicated to the problems paypal have caused people, even putting online stores out of business due to withholding received funds.
