Paypal "Payment Owed" Payment Question

Found 13th Jun 2009
Hi Everyone, I've sold something on ebay and just received a payment from the buyer via paypal, however the payment type says "Payment Owed"
I've never ever had this payment type before and upon bringing up the details of the transaction there is no address on file, and for some strange reason paypal has not charged me any fees for the transaction.

The amount is for just over £100 and I'm a little worried that I'm going to get stung here with either a chargeback or some other scam, the ebay buyer has over 300+ feedback.

Could anyone shed any light please

Thanks

Its A paypal personal payment so i dont know why the buyer would pay via that as there is no comeback. He cant report/dipute it if he didnt recieve/or recieved it damaged. You dont have to pay any fees so a result for you really!!

Its meant to be used when you are sending payment to someone you know so no-one pays any fees but the beyer is stupid sending it like that as he cant do a chargeback as he must of used paypal balance and he cant open a dispute.
Very silly/ trusting buyer!!
Madness!!

From my understanding its just a form of paypal personal payment you can select when sending money.
It elliminates the paypal fees - Which is good for you. It also reduces the protection.
The no address is because its been sent through a personal payment not automated through ebay.
If i was you i would just email the buyer confirming his address and his payment.

a chargeback can still be made on this type of payment. as a seller you have no protection on this type of payment. i would refund it and insist on a proper payment where they buyer uses the paynow link on the listing page

How can a chargeback still be made because for there to be NO fees you have to use your paypal balance. If you use a debit/credit card then there are still fees.

Also this is paypal we are talking about, Sellers rarely have any protection anyway. Paypal always (well most of the time) finds disputes in buyers favour

a personal payment can be made without paypal balance, the fees are paid by the buyer, so a card chargeback is still very possible, also a buyer could easily claim unauthorised use of their acc.
A seller has at least in theory have protection on sending to a ebaypaypal payment to an address listed with the payment email, which can be checked against the address shown on ebay when someone wins your auction
