    Paypal, problem with postage cost.

I'm a newbie to selling on eBay and have just sold my first few items.

All went well and mosy were paid correctly via paypal.

I'd charged £3 for postage or free collection on several items.

Unfortunately, one of the buyers changed the invoice amout to £0.00 for postage, which is obviously wrong.

I don't know if it was a mistake or malicious but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

How do I proceed - do I refund their whole amount via paypal or just ask for the £3 extra.

Will I be charged an extra fee/percentage on the £3?

    Many thanks

You'll need to refund and then let them pay again or you'll get hit for 20p + 3.4% on the £3.

Thanks Sean, that's what I figured, next questions ... do I get charged to refund? How Do I do it? How do I invoice them again?

Sorry if I'm being cheeky/dumb but have never done it before

Yup refund the whole lot then send them an invoice with the postage costs included

You don't get charged for refunding... I think you just go to the payment on your paypal account and there should be a refund option... Then you need to go back to the item you sold on ebay and click "send invoice" from the drop down list...

There should be a refund function on your paypal account summary page.
You won't get charged to use it, but yeah you need to request a payment after once you'v refunded.

not sure how a buyer would change an invoice i thought only the seller could do that, well i have never been able to. Yes you need to go into paypal and refund from there, then send a new invoice and check the postage is on it before you hit send, i managed to send a invoice once with no postage on it and lucky i had an honest buyer as they emailed me to tell me, good luck:thumbsup:

Buyers are able to change invoice amounts but you can select an option on your ebay settings which turns that feature off so only the seller can amend the invoice...

Thanks everyone, seems a genuine mistake by the buyer.

All sorted now, refunded and repaid.

I guess if you give a delivery - £0.00 option as well as £3 the buyer may choose the £0.00 !!!!

The OP offered collection as an option - in that case the postage would be zero.
