I have a pair of trainers to sell on eBay And they sell for c. £150.

I'm only allowed to charge £6 postage but specials £10

Does paypal cover me if I send them recorded delivery as royal mail only cover £42???

Reading on paypal seems to indicate they do but they are a bunch of con artists!!!!

Does anyone have any experience of this???

I would send RM special delivery to be honest, just to be on the safe side.

Does ebay state you can only charge a maximum of £6 for any service then?

Been a while. Since when did you stop using eBay? 2005?

ebay are copying amazons ridiculus postage limiter, theyve gone from one extreme (where you could pu t£1000 for p&p) to putting a few quid p&p on a book (which can be very heavy and cost a lot!!)

In categories where the postage is capped you obviously need to up your start price to cover the extra.

BUT,where are you getting your 10 quid price from ? it won't cost that,it's only 6.70 for upto a kilo.Prices listed below.

100g £5.05
500g £5.50
1kg £6.70
2kg £8.65
10kg £21.65

doh! my point was that it is ebay imposing the restriction. Paypal just prevent you from amending it when invoicing

a boxed pair of trainers would weight over 1kg imho

Even if it was in the 2 kilo bracket,i'm sure the extra 2.65 can be added onto the start price.

I didn't know where the OP was getting the tenner price from,as none are a tenner, unless he was rounding it up.

use the courier option and you can set your own delivery charges. I'd send them Special Delivery just to be safe. Ebay's limit on charges makes them more money as the seller has to increase the sell price to over come this.

Actually,it might be better to use a courier, some are only 6.99 aren't they.

Of course you can change shipping via PayPal invoice once the buyer has won the auction. I've done it numerous times.
