PayPal with buyer protection will I be safe?

Looking to buy an item off another forum for £300 and want to know that I'm covered incase the seller is a fraud. I think it costs 4% extra...but obviously worth it if you're covered?

Cheers

Im guessing the extra 4% is what he would pay to cover the paypal fees the person would be charged over doing it by gift.. either way though no cover unless its off ebay

has he got ant feedback anywhere

no paypal cover regardless...

ONLY covered if its purchased on the eBay site!!

Agreed you will not be Covered on here or any other Forum,But try telling that to some of the members on here who can't Read.

OP only do it if you are 100% sure with this person, get all his details, phone him up etc so in the case it doesnt come you can contact him etc

Cheers guys...might just do face to face

just to confirm, i called paypal once with ref to buying sommat on gumtree for £300+ - they said they will only cover you if it's bought from a 'sellers official website'- like boots plc etc, or ebay- but not any other private sales from forums or gumtree alike. looks like nothing is guaranteed if not a face to face sale.. even bt or paypal can reverseh/old payment.

Yes this is more or less what paypal told me as well.Just how much money do paypal make on Forums like this one where the buyer pays the extra fee's for protection when in fact he/she are not going to be protected.
