Hi, sorry if this is a bit long. Basically i have a paypal account but only use it for buying and it goes onto my credit card. If i sell i have only ever used cash, cheque or bankers draft methods of payment. However i sold a phone twice but they both were jokers and i relisted it the 3rd time and ebay said that i would have to offer paypal as a method of payment because of my limited transaction activity. The buyer paid and i had £42 in my account but paypal never charged me. When i had bought 3 items they got deducted form the £42 and i had £12 left.
This morning i bought an item at £125 and so i assume it will take away the £12 and charge the rest.
BUT then i received a second payment through paypal and it came to £21.50 but this time they said i would have to upgrade or accept it but still be charged.
So i never upgraded this time (i will have to the next i think) but why did they charge me the second time and not the first?????

Somebody was trying to pay you by Credit card rather than from a paypal balance I think. You do have to upgrade your account if you want to accept card payments. Or of course you can decline the payments each time you get paid via CC to avoid any fees, but its not that much in fees to be honest.

My mate got this today!! As if you make number amount of transactions within a month they will ask you to upgrade!! They will deduct like 2.5% off the money you recieve from the buyer!!

Here are the two types of account
Personal Account
This account is ideal if you shop online. Make secure payments on eBay and merchant websites using your credit card, debit card or bank account. Check out PayPal Personal Account Fees.

Premier Account
The account that is perfect for both buying and selling. Make secure payments on eBay and merchant websites. Plus, accept credit card, debit card and bank account payments for low fees.

You need to upgrade to a premier account so you can receive payments from buyers using credit/debit card.

but i received 2 payments over the fortnight, the first one went in at full price but the second got charged does anyone know why one did and one didnt

If you only have the personal account and they paid you with a balance in their paypal rather than from a card it is free to recieve payments
