PC A4 Scanner

Can anyone recommend a good (and cheap) A4 scanner for the PC. I need it for scanning lots A4 written pages, so looking for something that scans quickly and produces a fairly good output. Also must work with vista.

I've seen one on ebuyer, but thought someone could recommend a good one.

Not really looking for one of those multi function things - i.e copier, scanner and printer, as I just need the scanner to scan all these papers so I can get rid of them!

Any help appreciated!

my local library has a scanner that's free to use - as long as you are not printing anything out

I'm wanting to scan around 20 A4 folders packed with A4 sheets - my university and law school notes. They take up so much space that I thought i'd scan all the stuff I need and store it on my external hard drive.

I don't think my local library would appreciate me hogging the scanner for a week and a half and probably it would cost me a fortune, but thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds like you want a scanner with an ADF - automatic document feeder - and duplex scanning rather than a flatbed one. Unfortunatly dedicated ones tend to be pretty expensive new. They are sometimes built into all in one machines like the canon MX850 but I don't know if there are any cheap ones with ADF and duplex scanning.

You could possibly look second hand, although vista compatibility may be an issue if you're running it.
