PC / File Help: Transferring 65 GB of Files

My uncle has 65 GIG of files that I want from him. Whats the best / easiest way to transfer files considering he lives down South, and I'm up in Sunderland.

Obviously, they would fit onto 13 DVDs but is there an easier / quicker way

Either of us are not visiting for a while so thats outta the question.

    Rep will be given, Disco

usb hard drive and post it.

you dont mean porn vids do you because 65gig of photos is bloody loads :-D

    ha ha busted

would suggest FTP but ur upload speed wouldnt be that good on normal ISP, plus you poss need to buy some hosting space.

    looks like DVD's are calling

& all our uncles have lots of pictures dont they!!

    Move down south.

Seems a much better solution all round.

Dual layer would work out at roughly 8 dvds ;-)

If they are REALLY photot's.....I know it would take time but add them to emails & send them when you both by the PC as not to clog up your inbox.

or if they are anything else (video) use winrar & compress them in to small parts so one film in to 40 parts & then add so many to a email send them do this a few times & then add them all to one folder & extract them. But to do this for 65GB would take a very long time buts its free.

Ha ha ha! You can't email 65GB of illegal movies nor can you FTP them, it would literally take days.

    There are 3 options:

Buy a cheap HDD and post it to him and he sends it back filled with his ill-gotten gains

Put all the illegal movies on 13 DVDs

    Buy the films.

You can not buy these videos in the major supermarkets, lets just say they are not easy to get hold of.

Buy 4 and only do the one trip lol ;-)

I'd go with purchasing a USB hard drive and posting it, they're not expensive and the drives are useful to have.

Make sure you get your uncle to encrypt the 65gb, wouldnt want postie to get either of you arrested.

DVDs best option, your hard drive most likely get bust in the post. Saying that i.ve just uploaded 4 DVDs worth of my wedding photos to truprint.

The drive is only likely to get damaged if it's not packaged properly, I've bought just about all my hard drives online and not a single one has been damaged in transit.

I agree with the USB Stick option and send it a few times. Small, cheaper and less chance of damage to it in transit.

    edit:
    £7.99 for a 8GB stick,

That's because they know to look after their business customers

No, the drives have just come in their own boxes which offer suitable protection - it doesn't need anything more than that for safe delivery.
