impact as how? only running a dual core 2.2 which will be OC soon to 2.8ghz

It will in theory take longer for the pc to access the RAM, Hence slight reduction in speed.

    Not sure how much.

It should only make a tiny difference

Actually, it probably won't take longer to access it, since lower memory frequencies tend to accompany lower latencies. So, the 400MHz stuff probably has a CAS latency of 7, while the 333 has a latency of 6, or thereabouts. The only difference is likely to be in how fast the data is transferred.

Although, to be less pedantic and more just nerdy, RAM performance is a pesky ****. I've been messing around with my laptop recently, and have found that variations of modules bare remarkably little effect on performance, with a 2GB + 512MB module from different companies and of different speeds offering the best performance, by a margin of about 2% above a single module of 2GB or 2x512MB. Turns out, RAM is pretty much the most unexciting aspect of a computer, and whatever you do with it, it means ****-all for performance.
