PC Monitor Buying Advice

Posted 22nd Feb
Hi all,

I'm no expert on monitors, and I've done my own research a little but I'd quite like some advice from my fellow HUKDers

This is the monitor I currently have:
amazon.co.uk/iiy…7KN
I believe this is a TN, 24.5" Full HD, with 1ms response and 1000:1 contrast.
And I'm running a 1060 6GB. I don't play multiplayer games, and I won't be buying any more new PC games, I'll just occasionally play the ones that I've got (Arma 3, Two Point Hospital, and a couple of others but nothing note-worthy).
I'd just like something that is a bit more capable if I wanted it to be, with a screen that's as nice to use/look at as my phone (i.e. more vibrant)

Backstory aside, I'm looking to get a similar size or slightly bigger (so 24-27"). I'm looking for one that is 1440p and that is capable of over 100Hz refresh rate, but with a better contrast ratio. I'm not sure if this leads me to TN, VA or IPS. I found a handful last night on my ipad and I'll share the links to them later when I get back to my ipad.
I ideally want to spend less than £300 but if there one that falls just outside of this then I'd still consider it.

Thanks for your help kind strangers!

Wait for reviews but on paper I think that the MSI MAG272QR is a very good monitor for the price. I'm waiting for it to launch in March and I'll probably get it, unless I find something better.

Wow, thank you for your efforts.

I've used filters on websites like Curry's and Scan and it's still hard to find the best option. You have too many to choose from one minute then the next you've zero!

They aren't necessarily the best places to buy from, but they seemed to have a lot of products/options and useful filters.

OooOooOoo that MSI options looks to tick every box. 1440p, 165Hz, 3000:1, 27"
You might be on to something there. I am still yet to look into the ones I found the other night in more detail. I ended up working today so haven't had chance but I'll post my shortlist on here.

Thanks for the help

Seriously, I’ve been looking into that MSI. It seems to be too cheap for what it is. What’s the catch?

You're welcome.
I suppose it's just a new monitor with the MSI. No reviews yet. Having a read through this thread, @iTisYaBoiii mentioned about this monitor first.
The monitor look nice from the youtube vid.

That was my first impression, it seems too cheap for what it offers. I'm planning on buying it off of amazon, so if I have issues at least I can easily return it. It's a bit more expensive bit I'll pay it for peace of mind.
@CHUNGHO1 that video is for a different model, the MAG272QR is a flat panel and has a bigger colour gammut (at least on paper)

Sorry, I'd not clicked that it was the same one you suggested. Amazon was £279 when I looked so actually 99p cheaper. Tempted to order it myself too. I move house at weekend so I'm probably better waiting till after that.
