    PC quietener/overnight thing/power saver/ cpu clock reducer

IS there any program available that lets you reduce your CPU speed significantly and reduce the fan speed so it makes less noise and uses less electricec?

Usually the computer has settings in the BIOS you can change to turn this feature on. I believe on AMD machines its referred to as Cool'N'Quiet and on Intel machines it is referred to as SpeedStep. Turning either of these options on should reduce the clock speed (and heat) of the machine when idle.

Although if the fan that is making the noise cannot have its speed reduced by the way of a thermal probe, then there is not much you can do other than upgrading the fan etc.

    Hope that makes sense.

Edit: You could possibly uses Windows sleep state function. Whether this will work with your alarm software I am not sure, but I am sure there is something out there that does this: aquariussoft.com/pc-…ck/ this looks like a prime example of what I am referring to. The sleep state pretty much shuts your PC down, it just leaves a few things on to wake up (nothing that makes noise - not usually).

    Good luck!

can u not set it to start up at x time?

Turn your computer off and buy an alarm clock you fool! Save energy!

    Yes, what this dude says...

Try speedfan, from the following website :

    almico.com/spe…php

It allows you to change the speed of the fans that are connected to the board and shows other info like temps etc. It also allows you to change the clockspeed but I wouldn't reccomend doing it from windows it's much safer from the BIOS.
