For over a year now i've tried different methods to get my pc to show up on my big screen tv in the front room but to no avail. I've tried everything till i'm blue in the face and i'm still no further forward. I've just bought a 10m pc to tv kit which consists of 2 cables. The 1st cable goes from my sound out on my tower into the left and right scart holes on my tv and the 2nd goes from my tv out on my graphics card in my tower into the s-video on my tv.
So far all i can get is the sound and no picture. Ive got a nvidia gt8600 graphics card which has got a single, clone or dualview does that make sense to anyone?

Yes
You need to go in to settings and make it "clone". I use a 3.5'' to phono lead (red &white) and an s-video lead. It does take a bit of farting about. Stick with it

Also, check the s-video connection on your tv in settings...It needs to be "FULL" I think in settings, and also make sure that it is "on" if that makes sense...Go in to AV settings, or where all youre settings are on your TV and you'll see what I mean

Do you not have the option of connecting to the TV via DVI/HDMI ?

Do you currently go from VGA to S-Video?

or from S-Video to S-Video?

you will also need to set up multi-monitor in the nvidia control panel. It may be that your tele cannot display the resolution your outputting (although it should be able to scale it tbh)

Ahh, I forgot that...As above ^^^ I think I have mine on 1024x768, maybe less. That will be an issue with your TV if an older model. Try 800x600 and take it from there. Also have the Hertz at 50Hz I think it is.

Could the problem ive got maybe because im running my cable from my video out to my s-video connection on my tv rather than putting into the yellow rca hole video in hole next to it.

s-video lead from computer, in to s-video input on TV. Not the Yellow (video) hole on TV or computer...If you have something else connected via the Yellow (video) connection on your TV, you won't get a picture from your puter. It is straight forward. Clone on settings, s-video lead connected to graphic card on puter, straight in to the TV, that's it.
