    PC TO TV HELP!!! arghhh

hi , thank you for looking , i have bought a pc to tv cable (vga to 3 rca) and i cannot figure out how to make it work. I have checked google and their problem either didnt get solved or they are using windows xp, so the explanation of where to go doesnt releate to vista. i i have plugged the vga part into the Laptop and the 3rca into the tv(relating to the correct colour code-blue red green) and no matter what channel it desnt work. Ihave now tried 2 laptops and 3 TV and none work...am i doing it correctly? any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

this only works if your graphics card in the laptop supports it...

otherwise you need a scan converter

You have to enable 2nd monitor... on the laptop keyboard there maybe a fn key and a symbol like 2 monitors... press fn and that and it should output...

There may be a setting in the display options to enable the second monitor also.

As spann3rs says you need to switch to external monitor...on my laptop it is function Fn 4. Hope this helps

    What graphics card you using?

    On mine it is Fn5

you might need to change the settings to PAL on the graphics card (or try NTSC)?

sorry havent used this way before but that was an issue with another way i was doing it (thru SVHS)

    anyone else got any thoughts?

I think if you go to (100% safe site)

    crucial.com/sys…er/

And run the scanner it will give you all the information about your computer, im pretty sure it will tell you what graphics card you have installed if you dont have the specs to hand, then post it back on here

Or Type DXDIAG into Run of your computer, then click display

That way, no need to download any software that you will not use again...

You've tried 2 laptops?.... Do ANY of them have a dedicated Video Out Port should be a picture like rectangle with a arrow (same type of port as headphone/line out jack). If you have that OR an S-Video out you can get the display onto the TV...(with s-video out your tv has to have s-video in) for the other Video out port you use a cable that is yellow at one end and has 3.5mm jack (for the laptop in the other end...like a camcorder cable) If your TV can't take the yellow end you plug it into a scart type adapter (like sony games consoles come with...you can even use it to output the sound with the laptops headphone jack and a diff cable the 3.5mm > red and white one) and use that. You will need different cables but they are not expensive and you might have them lying around...sorry for the noob description of cables but hey works for me!

you cannot convert vga into component with just a cable
