Hopefully this is in the right place, but it's just a heads up that PC World will match their 'web exclusive' prices in store, if you ask them.

You can also order to 'collect in store' via the web to get the prices automatically

yes if the deal is not attractive to them, they will avoid letting you have the item for the web price. I have said a few times tho.

Tell them, you will have their cover product if they give u 3 months free. They will do this as they have 10% to play with when cover is involved.

Once you walk out of the store, go online banking and cancel the direct debit. There you will have 1 month of cover for FREE ! And however much 2 months cover is worth.

That's because the sales people at pc world use up a load of discount on selling packages to meet targets and then their average discount is sky high so they don't want to price match as it will bump up their %'s further

they HAVE to price match and give 10% of the difference, as long as the place has they are pricematching has the item in stock

At the store I worked at they said it's managers discretion as to whether they give it or not.

I can confirm this is correct, as i had the unfortunate pleasure of working for PCW for a year! Depends on how good or bad a day they are having though. If they are hitting their target for cover sales then they might not be so generous, but if they are struggling they should offer about 3 months free

just so you know, lol, I avoid it like the plague, Celeron city

edit: when Eclipse came in at currys, managers approval was not needed to pricematch, it was up to the sales person to discount the item, this gave the salesperson more control, as long as they didn't go silly on it it was fine, and not many customers even know what the internet or pricematch is; I found (not sure about PC World nowadays, but they do use Eclipse)

Just to add my two cents... PCworld will do whatever deal as its on their system. See if its on eclipse and there is no discount applied, the bottom line of the store is not affected.. for example.. there was a TV available for £2399 online for webonly price. I went instore and they had the same TV for £2999. Now the sales guy said he couldnt give the same price officially but I could do a web price, with instore pick up. As this comes on the system due to the reference, the bottom line of the store and him personally is not affected.

But working in PC world I had a trick up my sleeve. We went to eclipse and I told him to bring the TV up on Eclipse. Now eclipse is great. Once it comes up, there is a customer offers button. Now most sales guys wont take u there.. but tell him to click on this. On doin so we found a SKu which gave us the same TV, a plasma stand and wall mount for £2399, a saving of £999 over RRP. As all three of them came upto £3299 seperaately.

Now this is true for everything.. sometimes you will find xmas and easter codes hwich have not beeen removed from the system as well.. !! And also as there is NO discount applied, the SKU is on the system so it doesnt affect store or personal sales bottom line!!! Now if u really want some good service, go ahead with the PAY MONTHLY (not the lumpsome one) insurance, they will give u a month or two free... make sure you cancel your direct debit before your first payment goes thru!! even if u forget you only pay a months insurance, and there is no contract!!! The insurance is a great product as long as you cancel it in time!!! the sales guys will bend over backwards!!! I know I was one of them

i hate pc world they are overpriced and their price match is stupid.

online and online.
offline with offline (highstreet stores)

the only reason i would buy off them is if i want it now... and then their price promise is not a price promise

well like I said... the highstreeet wont match online, unless it comes up on their system.. wat they will do is try and get u a similar deal thru a web instore pickup option, or a SKU in the customer offer options. anything as long as they dont have to discount!!

I don't think I'll ever use PC World again if I want a PC I'll go somewhere like Costco.

am sur there must be a place like watchdog where people could complain about there price match procedures?

There are a lot of watchdogs, but most have no teeth to bite!! I remember I went to CPW for a pricematch deal, and the guy rudely said, go buy it from there then (the place i was pricematching from).

Eclipse is the software that all the tills at DSG use. Pcworld used them initially and now currys and earlier dixons and link used them as well.
