rather 'as new' than 'new' - customers returns or fixed ones.Generally looks ok, however very often have bad pixels, noisy fans etc. (my experience - I saw 5 refurbished Advents)

DSG service from Techguys definately is NOT good so in case of problems they will try to get rid of you rather than help you.Something like Virgin Media...maybe a bit better.

So I should steer clear Theres no othe rlaptops that take my fancie though

i dont know what there talking about mine is in perfect condition no faults at all!

I've bought 2 refurb's from Dixons and Currys (same group) and they've both been in near-perfect (if not 100% perfect) condition.

If I didnt like the condition could I return it?

it has a year warranty, but i cant remember how long you have to return it if your not happy, i think you have about a week

You'll have 7 days by default, keep it in its original packing etc. If you're just checking out the condition there won't be any need to mess with the packaging too much.

As it's a refurb they might be more reluctant, but you're in your rights to return it after a reasonable period.

Edit: I once bought a refurb from Medion (direct from medionshop) for a friend - it was in awful condition and wouldn't even boot. Clearly not 'tested' as stated and scratched all over. I've never had such a problem with DSG on refurbs, they appear to take good care of the units in my experience.
