PC/Network Gurus Help Needed

I got a laptop from my employer so they can send me jobs when I am out and about in my van.

It has Novatel Wireless Mobilink which is a 3g Connection. Now if i try to connect to Explorer or Chrome through this it dials the connection then connects but the browser fails to get any data sent to it.

I can access the net through unsecured wifi that I find every so often so I know they have not restricted the browsers. But they have obviously restricted or left something out allowing me to access the net with the mobilink thingy.

Any ideas how to get round this?

It is a Novatel Wireless Mobilink Network Connection Manager

the restriction could be at the server end as cellular links are very expensive per megabyte , can u collect email on it? if so sounds like they've nailed it down at that end.
