    Peak district day trip

    Hi all,

Thinking of going for a day trip to the Peak District (sister's birthday), will also be taking the family dog. Is there any must go locations/recommendations?

    Thanks

Remember most of peaks you have to keep dogs on leads - including those places such as Ladybower that are more set up for the daytripper. Something to bear in mind in your research.

Also, peaks are massive. Where are you coming from?

Not sure if your question is in the right place but, Matlock, Bakewell, Castleton are all lovely little towns especially Bakewell.
Chatsworth House is well worth visiting for the day as well as Eyam which is amazing and part of the history of the London Plague, each house has a little plaque showing the history at the time of the plague.

Chesterfield town centre is worth visiting to see the Crooked spire but wont take a day to visit so its worth visiting on a market day (Monday, Friday or Saturday) also they have a second hand market day on a Thursday.

Loads of other places in the area but they are the first ones to jump out at me!!

Ladybower Reservoir, Mam Tor, Winnats Pass, Chatsworth House, Stanage Edge and various other "Edges".

    Hi
Try Hayfield you have Kinder Scout and Reservoir if you want an energetic walk, the Sett Valley Trail on the Flat for a gentle stroll Great pubs and Cafes for Food and two gift shops for the ideal any Pressie.
I would recommend The Pack Horse in Hayfield very dog friendly and Great food.
    Have a great day Andy

We went camping last year, parked the car on the side of the road and walked down a vally into a village, had a cup of tea, cake and icecream then walked back. Don't seem much but it was about 5 hours lovely with the dog. Take a look :-)
