Penn and Teller - Magic Trick

I was going to post this in the America's Got Talent thread but the comments there haven't strayed away from that particular magician, and I don't think that these guys deserve to be lost in an unrelated thread.

So here it is. A thread dedicated to the legends are Penn and Teller.

I love magic. Maybe none of you took that part of my username literally, so it probably makes more sense now.

Lots of magicians hate Penn and Teller because they often reveal their secrets. I ifnd that they're often not the great magicians, who understand what Penn and Teller are doing.

Firstly, they INVENT new tricks with the sole purpose of exposing them. Secondly, some of the time (like the cups and balls trick) they'll expose how it's done but they can still do it so brilliantly that you aren't quite sure how it worked. Thirdly, they'll expose a trick in an entertaining way... and that is really what magic's about. How many magicians have you seen who were pretty good but were still "lame" because you knew exactly how it was done, or had some kind of idea? By exposing the tricks, Penn and Teller create NEW entertainment.

    And finally, they're ******** hilarious.

    EDIT: brb playing gta ;-)

Ah Reebo and Zooty. ;-) Thanks for the clips dm.

Yeah, I did when I first watched it. What is more annoying is that it's a song they had made especially for the trick, so I can't even download it to listen a few times and get it out of my system!!

These two are brilliant and should be on UK screens much more.

I was trying to remember when I first saw them on UK TV but i can't and I can't seem to trace it.
I know they were in a CH4 series "The Unpleasant World Of" in the early 90's but felt sure they appeared on something else before that.

They may well have been regular guests on someone elses show ? Any ideas Ducky !!

Excellent clips - thanks ducky. I really enjoyed them and cannot figure out how the heck I've never seen Penn and Teller before.
'Trap door' song - thought it was Stevie Wonder to begin with:)

I'm not sure. I think they appeared on "]The World's Greatest Magic" several times. Although this was an American show it was a big thing when screened over here (along with Mac King - he was funny in his own way lol).

I think thye were on quite a lot of stuff, but it was mainly American shows being broadcast over here (mainly on Five).

Does anyone remember the Masked Magician? That was amazing. And there was a good show called "Monkey Magic" which ran for a whole series. ]Paul Zenon was good, even if he was a little bit risque and sometimes mean (one time he hilariously threw someone's shoe onto the roof of a bus shelter as part of a trick).

that's a lotta links, nice vids
