People who bought MJ tickets from eBay

So iI had 8 tickets via Ticketmaster and will get a refund BUT i feel sorry for some of the poor people who bought tickets almost 4 to 5 times above their original value on eBay.

I wonder if the seller will refund them? or will they be tight and keep all that money from the immediate PP payment AND get a refund on top of that from the agencies they bought theire tickets from.

What y'all think?

Every sale will be different so no good debating it on here really, leave it to the eByers to sort out themselves.

Going to be a lot of people out of pocket and peed off though.

Was talking about this to my OH last night, if I recently sold tickets on ebay I'd give a refund, but if it was months ago (not sure when tickets became available) and I had already spent the money, I don't know if I would refund or not =S People should have a disclaimer on the ebay page to cover themselves really!

I bet both sellers and buyers are completely gutted! Some of those tix went sky high!

Yea I saw some go over 6 times their original value.

What I would do in your shoes is get a refund on your ticket and give that back to they buyer. Or you gonna keep the refund money?

sounds like you care as much as me

IMHO they get what they deserve for paying so far over the odds

was a bit adventurous! and insane

I would keep the money and not give out refunds. If they want to buy the tickets at 6 times face value, its their own problem.

Insiders are saying (Sky News etc) that he knew what people were saying about him NOT being able to do all 50 dates. His response was "I'll prove them wrong".

when touts buy all of the tickets true fans have to pay over the odds, blame the sellers, not the buyers.

Is it possible to take to small claims over ebay?! arn't most people covered by paypal protection anyway?

Not really mate.

If you were that much of a die hard fan (as I am) then you wouldve put alot of researching behind how to get a ticket, then learnt about PRE-SALE codes, then got one, then woke up at 05:00 every morning of the pre-sale days and then repeatedly checked the ticket sites until the links became active.

I did and im not a tout.

I will be giving refunds out

Agree totally I don't understand why they don't put pictures on the tix for high calibre concerts like this, same as like glastonbury do, but then again buyers are nutters for spending so much on tix on ebay in the first place. I think responsibility lands in both hands!

Probably the perception of 90% of eBayers.

Unfortunately not always the case when something goes wrong.

Definitely not in these cases (not the amount over the face value anyway)

Some of these people that paid over the odds are really poor and did so because MJ meant THAT much to them.

I have a feeling this thread is gonna go BIG time. Heat and Rep added. Thanks Sho.

That's never going to happen though is it. Even if some take that choice there will always be others that step in.

You have to make the tickets available to the real fans.

The easy way is to sell them on the door as they used to.

The real fans queue all night and get a ticket, simple.

I can either get a refund or hold onto them as collectors items. I doubt ill hold onto them though.

Its one thing if there were only 100 tickets sold and you had one. Its another when 100's of thousands were sold. I think they'll be worth Jack (no pun intended)

Tickets to his last concert would be worth a fair bit though.

I didn't choose to pay anything, I didn't get or want tickets, it just annoys me when I do want tickets for anything, they sell out within minutes.

Apart from the 500 people that queue up for tickets to sell with a 300% mark-up

I think you are missing the point if 10,000 tickets go sale on the door if 9,000 go to real fans then there wouldn't be the demand on eBay for the other 1000. Therefore the profit wouldn't be so high and the next concert the eBayers wouldn't bother, leaving even more tickets for the real fans.

As it stands 9,000 go to scalpers leaving 1,000 real fans to get tickets. This inflates the eBay price, then the next concert even more people want to become scalpers.

This problem has only existed since online sales started.

Regarding refunds on ebay. If the seller is private - and you bidded for the tickets, then the seller does NOT have to refund. However, if the seller is a business/trader, then he/she will have to refund the amount within a certain time limit (ie 14 days).
However, tickets are not covered under the refund policy as it falls under a different policy.

Not being funny but what was the point of that post then?

If you were all die hard fans like you say you are I'm pretty sure you'd be on the next flight to the states

Didn't Ebay cancel all sales that were sold too far ahead of the scheduled concert date?

I know some people that happened to and they had to re-list the auction at a later date.

The customer can take any individual to small claim court if they refuse to refund, as the product wasn't fit for it's purpose, as there is no concert!
This is why Ticketmaster is going to refund everyone because the product is no longer available.

Another easy way round it would be to only sell tickets that are in hand on eBay

It would not stop the scalpers but at least you would be protected for the face value with it being under 45 days.
