they obviously havent seen my fridge.

bet it whiffs a bit......ewwwwww

In those days a fridge was almost as expensive as a car, people would save for a year to get one. I bet thats why they looked after it, before the disposable age was born!!!
When I was a kid my neighbours had a bucket of water as a fridge and a rubbing board and mangle for doing the washing........ i'm not ancient but the old girls were brought up like that and never bothered with modern machines.

"A couple from the Wirral have won a new fridge after their old one was named as the oldest working model in Britain."

Surely that honour goes to Twiggy?

Taxi!:-D

If energy prices dont stabilise maybe there will be a new market for mangles. I remember my grandparents had one in their shed. I vaugely remember washing boilers as well. It was like a big enamel drum and the water heated somehow. Cant remember how the clothes were cleaned though. Maybe they were just boiled.

I bet the new fridge does not last a fraction of the time.
