Yo dude.... Couldnt be bothered to wait for the Touch HD direct from O2.... So ordered an Experia which got declined. (Was my 4th account with them which they dont allow!) Finally got an order processed after migrating one of the numbers (for the missus new 16GB iPhone), but changed it for the same! So you can call me an iSheep from now on!:w00t:

The offer was too good to pass (especially with the discount and the free 16GB iPod touch) for each phone!

I've used Picasa from time to time but I tend to find it a bit clumsy and slow, I haven't tried the newest version yet though.

aww maan serious? how are you finding it? guess it depends what you want … aww maan serious? how are you finding it? guess it depends what you want it for.. my bro in law gave his iphone 3g to my sister and bought a touch HD... he enjoys the flexibility but misses the music player.. I think the video player and the keyboard leaves a little to be desired... would have preferred not to have to reencode movies but once i have they play superbly... and the keyboard has heaps of settings, just need to pick the right ones!

Yeh serious!!!!!

Have been playing about with some of the free apps for it. Couple of them are excellent. (One in particular for movie listings, dvd releases, trailers etc all in one simple but really useful package. Probably available on the PPC, but not seen it before. As I said though, The extra I'm paying out on the contract (over and above now) is less than the value of the iphone and iPod touch. (ie £261) Seemed a good deal for both devices!!!

GUV HAS A IPHONE 3G finally you buy the best fone in da world.

picasa is awesome i use it all the time, link it to your google mail and you loving it.

what is it?

Broadly speaking it's a program to manage and manipulate your photos, it has extensive capabilities for managing your photo library, uploading and editting.

John

Definitely improved with V3.
I used it on release and then drifted away but I think I am going to go back to it again.

Plus of course it's free

Hahaha

Pwned!!!!:w00t:

Decided to give this a go but can't say I'm impressed, like previous versions it can't seem to handle large numbers of pictures and instead splutters and dies trying to work with them. Initially it made the rather stupid attempt to scan the entire drive which is the default, I removed all that and gave it just one folder to scan but despite that and refreshing the view it's still getting it completely wrong - one subfolder with 5,100 photos Picasa is insisting there are a mere 350. Needless to say I'm now in the process of unisntalling it now.

After reading your comments John I looked deeper into the new release. I have to admit to only looking at the basic functions when making the comments above.

Sadly it appears you are correct in writing that there are problems with V3. In fact there seem to be even more serious issues with V3 than you have found.

With regard to folder sizes I don't have the problems you have but then I wouldn't be having a folder or subfolder with that many files in it.
It does appear though that people are having problems with the Picasa database and are having to rebuild it to put things right.

Your other point of Picasa insisting it scanned the whole system for image files on install or update is definitely a known problem and hopefully being looked at. You can of course change the defaults after install but you know that already.

For those who intend on continuing with Picasa V3 it might be an idea to have a look at the Picasa Help Forums where a lot of the problems are being logged.
I'm going to keep going with it as I still think it is a good piece of software (for my uses) but of course I would be hesitant in recommending it to others given the problems.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention John, I'm going to also post a brief warning in the Show us your photo thread where Picasa has been written about before.
