Every 4 hours, surely ?

what strength are they? Are they extra stength? You take them less.

if its three a day it would be one every 8 hrs?

They must be extra strong, like cuprofen or something.

Depends on the strength, i couldn't even sit up with my trapped nerve, i slept laid and spent all day on the floor for 4 days...!

i know when i trapped a nerve in my neck doctor gave me ibuprofen the strengh was 400 3 a day and was told to take paracetomol in between

Get some voltarol gel as well
or some other pain reliving gel

Yes, I find it's really helpful to take ibruprofen , then 2 hrs later take paracetamol, four hours after that, paracetamol, 2 hrs after that, ibruprofen... and circle round like that.

Also, hot and then cold wraps can help ease the pain too.

I have had a trapped nerve in my back a few times. Codeine seems to work better for me.

it also states you should take paracetomol first as it has less side effects

TB absolutely BH, I reckon that you can do that and slip in a few extra - just not every 4 hours which was one suggestion.
What's the max for the dose that you have per 24 hours? Take the max that you can, just not all at once.
Pain like that is horrible. You can get an ibuprofen gel as well which is good.
Fingers crossed.

Don't ever take more tablets in a day than it states on the label...

i'm a nurse and believe me I've seen patients and heard of patients having kidney problems after just taking a couple more than they should in 24 hours!! (I didn't realise it was too bad either before seein it happen....!).

Taking the 2 brufen and 2 paracetemol together is fine - this is how you'd get it if you were in hospital. However at home folk can find spacing them out (paracet then 2 hours brufer then 2 hours paracet...) like someones mentioned helps the pain not get to a bad point before you're due to take more...

hope you're back eases up soon

You know I'm only joking

I've just recently got my shoulder sorted out.

It's as if someone upstairs is laughing at me picking a different body part for pain every few months :w00t:

extra strength Co-codamol washed down with a few wheat beers is awsome.

Seriously awesome.

I sat with an inane grin for hours, just soaking up the sheer awesomeness.

(don't take other peoples prescribed drugs)

Girlfriend was NOT chuffed.

But it was still awesome.

I'm actually kinda hoping for something else to give me pain so I can do it again!

Awesome.

you know that you actually havent trapped a nerve dont you? Thats physically impossible- when a doctor says you've 'trapped a nerve' it just means some non-specific pain that they cant be bothered diagnosing properly.
Nerves cant get 'trapped' in anything- basic anatomy.
If I were you I would be on co-codamol, codeine is the shizzle

How about a 'squashed nerve' then due to pressure of the skeletal and connective tissues? Plus there are channels where nerves can be trapped at the vertebral exits and channels in the shoulder. I think that 'trapped' is a perfectly adequate description.

Unless he has a serious spinal defect; that.s a myth

Hi,
You can take 400mg of Ibuprofen 3xday 6 to 8 hours.Take Paracetomal 1g aswell and it will work better. If your really struggling you can take 600mg but only for few days.Otherwise, ask for Diclofenac (Volterol).Make sure your having something to eat though.

go and have accupuncture, works wonders!!!

Havent read all the comments above, you can take ibuprofen every 6 to 8 hours. Add another pain killer to it if they are not working properly (paracetamol, co-codamol, paramol) (weak, stronger, strongest OTC)

I have Thoracic outlet syndrome on my right hand side and the brachial nerve bundle and brachial vein are both affected. The surgeon recommends nerve decompression to help the pain, so in effect the nerve is at the moment 'trapped'. I have no skeletal defects, spinal, serious or otherwise. so it is infact possible.
