can you not turn your boiler off at the switch on the boiler, and should have a reset switch, what boiler is it?

sounds to me like a faulty 3-port valve.
i had this problem before and whilst it was supposed to be heating water up for use, it was jsut sending it round the radiators instead.

how can you guys possibly diagnose the problem without knowing make and model of boiler?

It could be a number of things, op is it a gas or oil boiler? what make and model is it?

faulty valve like the last post said.

Possibly a faulty diverter valve but if this was stuck open you should be experiencing problems with the hot water, ie only lukewarm

I'll turn the radiators down for now else it will be freezing in the morning. Ones down stairs are turned off, it's just two upstairs I'll leave on. Hope I can just press some sort of reset button on the boiler it self. It's gas.. and an eco max Vaillant

only way it got fixed on mine was to have the 3-port valve 'controller' replaced. its the thing that site on top of the valve and turns it to switch between hot water and radiators.
probably looking at getting an engineer out to it.
HTH.

the water would still be HOT even with the 'diverter/3-port valve' problem.
it certainly was on mine

unless you have a seperate tank they use the same, i now have a combi boiler but have no seperate tanks, the loop on mine has been left on too, apparently you are advised to remove them when not in use, but mine is still on

i would turn it off and reset see if it sorts it, also most new boilers have lcd controls that will show up errors

It's a combi boiler with a pressurised system, the same water will heat the rads and the hot water, they cannot cross contamintae as the hot water is heated via a plate heat exchanger, hope this make sense

the loop eonly has to be removed to comply with water regs, as long as the valve is off it's fine

in my experience vaillants are a nightmare to work on
