its not bad, i actually enjoy it, you need a lot of patience and just the right gear, a good brush to get rid of all the bubbles helps loads

Why don't you paint over the paper!

I posted ]this thread a while back, you'll be sure to find some good advice there

I wouldn't recomend papering over paper as it has more change of bubbling. It's fairly straight forward as long as the pattern is easy to match. and as mark said you have all the right gear. My husband and is dad normally do any in our house but I have done it myself before and was quite succesful.

id go for a none matching paper first off and dont paper over the old paper and patience is the answer

Important things to get for papering

    1 Sharp knife
    2 Sharp scissors
3 Soft Rags to keep wiping scissors and knife with
    and
4 Good quality papering brush for applying and decent brush for paste
6 Good size surface for pasting (again keep wiping paste off this so it doesnt mark your paper front)
7 Time plenty of it (you probably wont need too long once you get the knack but allow plenty then you will not feel rushed to a schedule)

I done 14 meters of wall (including two door cut away areas, fireplace plus 3 internal corners and one external) in around 4 hours.

Corners are the hardest part if they arent true!

    I made a right mess when i tried it,but i'm a DIY disaster lol

Go for it Sparkle, what have you got to lose...crack open a bottle of wine and wallpaper til yer hearts content....it'll look great...trust me....:-D

lol....well thats what you get when you speak in double entendre's

Also, which no one has mentioned, always allow the paper to soak once pasted before hanging, usually about 5 - 8 minutes. If you don't this is how you get bubbles in paper

If its expensive paper i'd pay someone to do it:w00t:

I wouldn't recommend papering over the existing paper. The steamers from B&Q are fairly cheap and do the job in half the time. However with it being ex council, you might discover the previous occupants put the paper up to hold the house together lol
