sounds dodgy to me nikki-why dont they just contact you direct and ask whatever questions they may have? shred and ignore is my advice.

It is possible its a genealogical specialist.

They may have someone who died and are trying to trace potential relatives.
This is often someone who had no idea they were related in the first place, or this person has died.

Hi Nikki.

Tower Investigations are a company who I think at present are based in middlesex or therabouts.

Anyway, they have several "strings" to their bow, including mainly tracing people, usually for debt recovery, unpaid fines etc. Although the letter may be addressed to you, they migt be trying to trace a previous occupant at your address, or somebody with a similar name, date of birth etc to yours.

As I'm sure you know, you aren't obliged to supply them with any info so it's your call. However, if you do decide to contact them, they do have to tell you the nature of their "investigation" before you give them any info at all - even data protection info like your date of birth etc. If you ring them, just quote them any reference number on the letter and ask them what it is about.

To be honest, from what I know, they aren't that credible in their field at what they do, if you know what I mean.

Hope this helps,

Col.

Return letter not known at this address.

my sister and they are worse than buchannan clarke and wells

good luck.
I had one a few years ago. Saying that i owed tsb about £500 from when i was 17 or 18. Now they cant really chase a debt that is over 6 years (as long as nobody has had any contact with you)
The reason they said i had this debt is because of a direct debit that came out AFTER i had closed my accoutn and moved to abbey.
anyways long story short i just sent them a letter asking them to prove it was my debt....never heard back from them. Sooooo it may be a debt that you have no clue about

No it doesn't, the limitation period doesn't start again once a debt is statute barred.

i read different on consumer forums:thinking:

Funnily enough I got a letter from them about 6 months ago. Someone elses name but my address.
Checked them out on the web, then opened the letter.Rang the freephone number, explained that I have lived in my house 29 years and have no lodgers.
They have taken my address off their list.
