    Maybe the pump is stuck, have you tried giving it a good thump when you first switch it on.

    Mine does this when the water pressure is too low - there's either a blockage, the hose has a kink in it, or you've forgotten to turn on the tap.

    What you're experiencing sounds like the safety cutoff - it's mentioned in the instruction booklet somewhere - it's to stop the motor burning out if there's not enough (or no) water coming through.

    All I can suggest is to check everything (including fittings) from the tap to the pressure washer.
