Guess you have to do anything these days to try get ahead of the pack. The world of employment sucks, especially if you have no experience/recent work history.

as a company secretary it is your responsibility to make sure the accounts for the company are done each year.
you are just as responsible for the company as a director would be.

Why are they paying you to be their company secretary?

If that's what you want to do, why not? Better than doing nothing at home, if that is what you will be doing. Thing is, you will be in a better position to look for jobs and people like you to have experience. Plus, an opportunity to make friends and show the company what you can really do, if you get chances in other areas of the office. You never know you may have found your niche...........

I am surprised they would consider anyone without qualifications. You would be responsible for the accounts, registering documents with companies house etc. - a lot of responsibility for £400 a year.

It's not even compulsory for LTD co to even have a Company secretary any more...I wonder what their motives are....do they want to register the company at your address ?

It used to be that a company HAD to have 1 director 1 company secretary, but now the sole director can also be company secretary, so why pay someone to do it?

If they're outsourcing everything why doesnt one of the directors just sign up as Comp Sec?

is it really worth the extra work and poss pressure/responsibility? for about £10 a week in company benefits or so to say.
go back to basics write a list of 'for' and 'against' and also is this going to get you any further in the company ie promotion/pay rise in the future?

Sounds like they are setting you up as a fall guy, avoid like the plague.
