Every year more and more people, animals and wildlife get hurt by fireworks. It’s time something was fine to stop this. There are enough organised firework groups around for us to still enjoy fireworks safely so please help me stop the needless sale of them to the public.
At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament
Parliament now will consider this for a debate as this has now passed the required 100,000 signatures.

Think Ill make a counter petition to keep Fireworks accessible all year round.
There are organised displays you can attend.
You only have to google firework injuries to see how dangerous they can be.
I don’t want to upload any pics as I feel they are too graphic for here.
My concern is the injuries they can cause.
PS. Don't run with scissors... unless that is the name of your dog.
Injuries? It's the noise pollution and I'm talking all 52 weeks of the year round here.
If it saves just one child from permanent disfigurement I would be happy,
I’m not too fussed about the noise.
Sadly not every home display goes as well as yours

try living in Bradford. believe me the noise would start to bother you. Sounds like London in the blitz here.
Yeah I think I’m quite lucky it’s not too bad around me. It’s goes crazy bonfire week and New Years Evebut that’s about it.
every week round here. Some times midnight and later. Wedding parties.
I agree there are so many idiots about who don’t have a clue about how to use these correctly, but then there are some people who do. I definitely agree more safety measures need to be in place, like limiting places where you can actually buy these from and perhaps only selling during certain times of the year?
Either way you’re going to annoy some and make others happy
Allowing the sale from specialist fireworks places to public, that don’t sell cheap rubbish should still be allowed.
Cost to much, when you can get fertiliser much cheaper..
For you to say what you did you must have a valid source rather than Facebook type scaremongering right!?
It reeks of bull.
Probably not by percent use wise though.
How many fireworks are used compared with the others and how many injuries occur.
Fireworks are used far less frequently than all those things you mentioned generally one night of the year
I don’t have evidence to back this up however.
It just seems silly to me in this day and age where everyone is so safety conscious we allow the legal sale of essentially explosives that can cause great harm.
I mean they have label peanuts with may contain nuts as people seem to have zero common sense.
You mean someone has to have the catherine wheel nailed to their body currently!? ..no wonder A&E figures are up, allegedly.

while I sympathise with animal owners ... it does kinda seem like "I have a dog, so nobody should be allowed fireworks". Seems kinda selfish to me, considering its only for a few days a year.

So no source at all then?
The government will not accept a petition if it contains false statements.
This petition was accepted.
The petition doesn't say "Every year more and more people, animals and wildlife get hurt by fireworks" though.
It’s not exclusively about pets. It’s about wildlife too. The shock from the fireworks causes them to panic which results in their deaths at times. That’s if the shock doesn’t kill them. The debris left from the fireworks can also be picked up by wild animals too which can cause them harm.
Does this make wildlife selfish too?
A quick check of other petitions shows that's not the case.
For example this one claims a site and IP block is far harder to get around than an account ban:
petition.parliament.uk/pet…087
Or for example this one suggests that the only way a positive result in the reduction of knife crime can be achieved is by changing the sentencing:
petition.parliament.uk/pet…766
Both claims are highly dubious, enough to be called false without strong evidence to the contrary.
