    Im in!!

Hopefully some action will be done soon to stop the greedy ******s increasing prices.

I'm in, but they won't listen, especially to HUKDers

Perhaps you need to reconsider "better deal for us all" - realistically another party (be it the smokers, tax payers or benefit receivers etc.) will pay for a fuel duty decrease elsewhere anyway.

I'm all for it but if the lorry blockades of previous years have failed do you really think Gordon Brown will listen to a HUKD petition.

We have only just come out of recession the prices the pumps ain't really helping the recovery. That unelected one **** *****ish idiot won't listen to anyone.

This by the way, is never going to happen. We will see public transport improve way before the fuel prices go down.

End of the day, the government want the cars off the roads, with 100's of people passing driving tests every day, the roads are getting worse and worse.

It is never going to get any better people!

They want cars of the road but they don't want the car industry to collapse. These jokers (government) want it all ways. Personally I think the traffic has eased in the last 3 or 4 years and I do a lot of miles. Don't even get me started on global fecking warming....

Road pricing is what worries me with my daughter living 270 miles away :x

Its 15p/l cheaper than it was a couple of years ago, so not got a problem at the mo - I'll sign when it hits £1.50 per litre. Sometime soon then :x

Obviously it would be better for me if it was cheaper, but (a) it isn't and (b) this petition won't change it, even with 30m signatures

There is one main way to force them to lower prices. A boycott. But that wouldn't happen as people need fuel, so we are just screwed.

See I have had a good idea, public transport needs to be made better, perhaps I will leave the car at home then. Instead of buses stopping at every single stop, have direct buses from town centres to the main areas as well as, they will get there in the same time a car does, and people will be happier then!! A bus takes 45 mins to do a 10 minute journey where I live.

I used a bus for the 1st time in ages the other day, never again. Was meant to leave Newcastle at 34 minutes past the hour I got to the depot at 31 mins past (on my watch and the station clock) the bus had already left and I had a further hour wait.
I wrote arriva a stroppy letter, nothing back yet

With the government running a whopper of a deficit, and thus taxes likely to increase and expenditure decrease... chances of a cut in fuel duty? Not likely.

It's an incredibly easy tax revenue to collect, and people need petrol. It's not going to happen.

Petrol is inelastic meaning that suppliers can charge whatever they want and demand will not change much.

The tax duty on the fuel is necessary currently due to spending ourseleves out of the recession. The country now has a high deficit, cuts of the tax will just cause taxes to become more expensive elsewhere and might risk a double dip recession.

"Taxes never decrease they just increase elsewhere (VAT, Income etc)"
