Petrol Prices to drop to £1 a litre

Not sure if this is in the correct place but heard on the radio this morning that fuel prices are due to drop again in the next week or so and could drop to £1 a litre for petrol.

If that's the case I am definitely putting some miles on my car

    Hope it happens!!

This would be better suited in misc... since it's not actually a deal...

Unfortunate for the government. I'm sure we will hear of a rise in duty shortly after.

That's if the savings are actually passed on.

Kebab shops have caught onto this and are increasing prices...they assume ppl have more money to spend.

No chance of duty going up - it hasnt moved for ages and the last thing that will happen in an election year especially when it would significantly increase the percentage of the cost that is tax.

It will never go below £1 anyway as 80p of it is tax and vat currently, so a barrel of oil wont go low enough that the oil co's can make a profile off <20p per litre of production, transport and the cost of the filling station itself

Food prices have also gone up you know. Chicken is usually consider as the cheaper meat but this has also gone up too. Our local chicken shop has put prices up recently. It's either you get less chicken or you pay more for regular portions. Someone has to pay you know. Or try not to be damn lazy & cook your own at home.

Same thing, I really can't see it dropping anything below £1. We as consumers can dream but doubt the Gov will be happy with it. The Gov coffers absolutely depends on it for its revenues. Same thing, try asking the Gov no pay rises for MP's annual salary. Your having a laugh. X)

80p of it is tax? :O

    That's crazy.

Good, and we as a people ought to act to demand it doesn't go back to the crazy heights it's been at, in the future. The tax and duty on it is unacceptable!

it will make those silly little electric cars look expensive to run if it petrol prices continue downwards. my daughter's Fiat 500 is under £30 to fill up now so it's helping her to get out and about more which is much better than being sat in front of Facebook all night !!

Nice, I'm off to buy something with a V12 X)

    Less tax

But for how long? People are saying it will shoot back up to around £1.50 in a few months, or is that just a silly rumor?

Looks like someone just found the cheapest so far. I don't live in Enfield so can't confirm.

Spammed by the looks of it but good news looks forthcoming very soon. Now just wait & see if it breaks the £1 target.

Further fuel price cuts bring £1 a litre within sight

Nobody knows, the market is in absolute turmoil at the moment. Several friends of mine have dumped their shares as it's just to volatile.

Fracking has really changed the landscape and OPEC are forcing down the price by maintaining supply to slow the growth of fracking, currently it needs to be at around $60 a barrel to be profitable for fracking.

Several views on this subject on where it will all settle, some believe $20-$50 a barrel long term.. Some believe it'll settle at around $50-$80 a barrel long term.

Thankfully though i don't think we'll be seeing the dizzy highs of $100+ a barrel for a long time, which is great news.
