Hi guys

So basically the buttons to my car key popped out.... Then the battery died. Then if you can see the picture the little button on the circuit board fell out.

Does anyone know if I buy a circuit board and blank key case off the internet if it will work fine again? Will I need to recode and reprogram it and will it be difficult?

Would it be easier to take it to the dealership and have them do it? I was told its over £100

Bravo lol

I did this myself the other week for the same car

One of the buttons on your circuit board needs replacing by the look of it as the top of the switch is missing, easy job with a soldering iron, it comes as a kit which you can get on ebay for just over a fiver, other option is dont use the buttons unless you really want to

The circuit board isnt what needs programming, there is a black transponder chip in the corner of the key that you need to transfer to the new plastic housing, it clips in, dont do what i did and not do it and get stuck at work with the imobiliser on for 2 hrs while figuring it out lol

I forgot to metion that water may have got in it from the rain will that fry it?

Maybe, maybe not

The transponer is the most impotant bit and is waterproof anyway

I would ring Timpson's as not all of their stores do this service.
Or try and get a local mobile key unit to come out, mine cost £80 for a 206cc

£80 to swap a housing over!

was that just for the housing!!??

im gonna call Timpson now and try and obtain a quote... if i dont like the prive im going to ebay a circuit board and housing... not like i can cause anymore damage right

Timpsons aren't cheap, you should Google your local area for car key reprogramming, they will come to your door to fix it.

I'd recommend Jamal method 1st and if it fails then look for getting a new key sorted. Hopefully the electronic will be fine and the central locking still works. Best of luck.
