Hoping someone can help me here, is this physically possible?

a) I have Phone + ADSL broadband with Provider A (Openreach)

b) I have Primary phone + cable broadband with Virgin Media

Tl;dr I have phone+bb from Virgin which I use and would "like" to keep the number and transfer to Sky, Provider A is just some cheap BB deal I had for ~£60/year on openreach line

- Sky is insisting line take over from Provider A I guess so they don't have to pay open reach for new line install?

- Sky (C) is requesting they only will take over "Provider A" line, can I then request transfer of phone number from Virgin or is that physically not possible?

// Sky won't provide second line //

sky can only use the openreach line as virgin don't allow other providers to use their network, the only way I can think of is for you to cancel the openreach line, once this is done, order the sky line which will use the ceased line to give service, making sure to specify that you want to port your number from virgin when you place the order.

Yeah they want £30 + may take up to 30 days which would probably be too late. Ah well, I think i'll have to sacrifice number for the significant saving.

Your correct Sky are only telling you this to prevent Openreach charging them for the new provide of a line

Id ring them up again or go online and dont even tell them about the BT Wholesale line, that way they will have to put a new line in (maybe charge you connection) and will port the number over from the virgin line.

Then you can decide yourself when / iff you cancel the original BT Wholesale line.

If sky do it the way that they want to they might charge you to port the number from Virgin to Openreach, as that line would originally be taken over with the number it already has, from which Sky would then need the port so rather messy

The offer isn't available online which is why i'm stuck there, the person on the phone was persistent on only taking over existing open reach line.

I've signed up anyways but will try to see if they can then do another take over from Virgin, i doubt it's possible but will give it a go. Might just move the number to VOIP just as backup with call forwarding/ios app.
