    PHOTOS & CAMERA SKILLS.

Have been looking for a while now but seems to be nothing locally. I love taking photos but would love to get much better and develop my skills and do a lot more.

I have a fantastic Canon Ixus but only use a fraction of what it is capable of, would love to get to know how and when to use all the functions on it, before moving onto something like an SLR

I went to a local camera club once many years ago but although I am sure most there were genuine, some were clearly there for other reasons and made me feel very uncomfortable.

I use very basic Picasa editing occasionally, Photoshop seems way above my skills. IMO, it is the sort of thing you need to watch someone else do and it will be a lot easier.

I am amased how many people just take pics and then get them printed, even duff ones. Most people who use digital cameras never think of editing them. I love improving pics and giving them to friends.

It just takes me so long and I am sure there is an easier way. I have a loft full of old pics I need to sort and organise (30yrs worth). Where do I start, do I scan then edit them all?

    What do others think.

    Try your local college.

Many colleges do evening classes in digital photography or photo retouching.

You may find details in your local library, or in your local newspaper.

Your just like me photo's and the editing are the best thing to do in my spare time although i do love to get a simple shot that signifies the subject and emotion involved and if i can do this without editing then i believe that it is at it's purist. I go to night school classes for photography and it's great fun ( equipment Cannon all the way for me)
