Pioneer ventured into the LCD TV business (with backing from Sharp), after they announced the withdrawal from the plasma TV market. Ultimately, sharp losses resulted in the complete withdrawal from the flat screen TV business.

cheers! as ever these big companies are more complicated than i knew!

we got told it was because they simply priced themselves out of the TV market in the recession and decided to concentrate on high quality audio and PC components such as DVD and Blu ray drives.

Whereas Panasonic, LG and Samsung remain committed to improving and continued production of plasma screens
