Would it be able to smoothly playback high bitrate 1080p video files?

Thanks.

Definitely. The graphics chip for this laptop is the GMA X4500MHD; so yes it absolutely can.

There is a similar chip without the HD on the end that isn't able to, so watch out for that if you consider other similar laptops.

Fair price for that model also. Be aware that there are cheaper celeron models around.

What will you be playing the 1080p files on as the screen resolution is 768p pal?

Anyway, yes, if you're outputting using the HDMI to a 1080p display, then yes, it should play fine..as should any machine built post 2008 (unless it's running Vista).

Also, the 1.3ghz SU7300 c2d in this laptop benches worse than the 1.2ghz U3600 Celeron...

I already have a lot of 1080p content.
I would want it to be playable on the Laptop I plan to get even if the screen isn't Full HD.

I've found this one for £40 more: saveonlaptops.co.uk/pro…333
Total = £389.97

The only problem I can see with the laptop is the lack of Gigabit LAN.

The seemingly endless laptop hunt will continue.
