Ok folks I recieved my money back from my faulty LG tv, it was just under. Year old and have been fighting this for 4 months.

I have now got 500 and maybe a bit more but don't really want to spend more, just wondering if anyone just bought a good tv?
I'm wanting a 37-42", LCD or Plasma 100hz and has to have 1080p

I have a 10% discount at Tesco and comet have the 5% off 5500aw code

My only advice on the subject is buy from John Lewis and get their 5 year warranty, it is worth it for the peace of mind.

Panasonic or Philips Plasma TV's are amongst the best that I have seen.

Is there still the issue of LCD up to 37" and any size above go for a plasma?

Also is thereuch difference between 768 and 1080 ? There is quite a few nice plasma at
Tesco direct but there all 768

this +1.
also get a decent manufacturer - even if it says 1080p some teles look a hell of a lot better samsung, sony, panasonic etc.

It really depends on what your usage is going to be, if your a heavy gamer I wouldn't suggest plasma.

As a general rule of thumb, yes LCD up to 37" and Plasma over 37".

Hardly any difference and 1080P isn't broadcast by any of the broadcasters.

John lewis warranty isnt that good. if you want proper piece of mind, get a better warranty than a limited free one. Richer sounds is MILES better
John Lewis:
no home service specified
no call out time specified
no maximum repair time specified (tv could be away for up to how long???)

so if could take what, 4-5 days for them to call out, thats if they do, they might want you to take your TV to a service centre.
no time limit on repair before they write it off and you get a new one.

the description on their website is far too vague.
and the part where it says they may ask you to pay for the repair and claim it back from them.
Sorry but this is unacceptable in my book.
under warranty you shouldnt have to shell out for repairs then claim it back.
NEVER

Richer sounds will even ask you if you need to borrow a TV while yours gets looked at.
way better

Richer Sounds sell mainly older obsolete models, they charge for their warranty, they do not even deliver many of their items, my nearest Richer Sounds is a 70 mile round trip.

John Lewis deliver free of charge, have the latest TV's, free 5 year warranty and have the best reputation in the industry for service standards.

I far prefer John Lewis.
