PLASTIC ICE SCRAPER FROM ASDA SCRATCHED MY SCREEN

Found 28th Nov 2008
i recently bought a cheap plactic ice scraper from asda and today i used for the first time as my car was iced over inside and out, after i had done it and the window had dried i noticed at the top on the drivers side there are a few longish scratches which i am positive were not there before i had used this, is it possible for the scraper to do this, has anyone else had this problem with a scraper from asda??

im quite sure they wernt as i have never noticed them b4 and they are right infront on the drivers side so would of noticed them when driving if they were there b4, i used the scraper on the inside and out and the scratches are on the inside as you can feel them and i havent wiped my screen with anythin else other than the scraper and a cloth when its been steamed up.

im guessin as ice doesnt usually form ont he inside ther meant for outside use only, where i presume the glass is coated to withstand stones etc...? hope you get a good outcome tho.

Try using the Scraper again but on a small corner of ur windscreen just to see if it is the thing scratching it

The plastic shouldnt be able to scratch glass...

Were you wearing a ring or watch or gloves with a metal buckle? this might have scratched it...

Feel the plastic with your hand. If there are any sharp edges that could scratch a windshield you will be able to feel them.

It is more likely that there was some dirt or grit on the screen and the scraper pushed it into the screen whilst you were scraping, the fact you have a cheap scraper makes no difference.

Exactly what I was thinking.

The plastic alone won't be able to scratch a car windscreen.

There may have been grit or dirt on the screen that may have scratched the glass as you swept the windscreen with the scraper.

Perhaps they were diamond encrusted scrapers! :w00t:

It doesn't sound very likely a piece of plastic will cause any damage to toughenend glass.
