Play say they have shipped your item but haven't really

Is it just me, or are play.com liars?

They say that a product has shipped and 10 days later, you (I) still haven't received it.

My previous item (a usb drive) was marked as posted the same day I ordered, and after 14 days and an angry support email later, the item was shipped the very next day via courier. So in fact they had never sent the item in the first place, and I know this is a fact, because other people didn't receive their usb drive either (same model)

What is going on? DO I need to bang down Plays virtual doors to get my item?

I ordered a HDD from them on the 23rd of last month,still waiting on it

Lucky to get stuff - they just cancel my orders without notice from time to time.

Blame the post. Recent weather and time of year are whats causing delays.

I have ordered loads of stuff from Play and have never had a problem.

Even with the snow, it can't be difficult for play to get items to central london. If that was the case, then Plays business model is pretty much doomed each and every seasonal period. Most businesses, play included would prepare for seasonally bad weather...All Amazons stuff seems to reach me whatever the weather.

never had a problem in years of using them that hasnt been rectified quickly. Its the weather causing problems, RM have a huge backlog

Exactly. People seem to think the shop you buy from is the same people that deliver to your door.
Items can also get lost in the post.

i have ordered a few items in the last few weeks all have arived within a week ..never had a problem with them ...
i am waiting on parcels from other companies ...but i guess with the backlog there is nowt to do but wait...

Perhaps it's just my bad experience at the moment, but Play were flawless 3-4 years ago. Then suddenly there appears to be something wrong with every order in succession.

A brief list of problems are

1) Saying an item has been posted when it hasn't, leading to the false belief you will be getting your item soon.
2) Saying items are in stock, then receiving an email saying they are cancelled or will take weeks to obtain
3) Saying items will ship within 24hr when that isn't the case
4) Receiving items that have been battered or second hand (e.g. books and CD jewel cases in particular, but are merely shrink-wrapped again)
5) Having to wait an inordinate amount of time to contact support about items that never arrive

I could think of more, but I'm late for work...

They use to be good,ive ordered 500+ items off them over the past 3 years and have noticed a decline in service, they use to post out 24hr later now it can take 72hrs and then another 72hrs or so to arrive. But still waiting for something i ordered 2 weeks ago, cant see the need for 21 days before refund while they hold your money
