    Play.com - Is it just me or have they gone REALLY, REALLY downhill?

    After ordering something that didn't turn up after a month, I filled in claim form for a refund and posted it to them. Last week they got my form and sent me out a REPLACEMENT, so I contacted them again and got this reply.........

    We apologised for the inconvinience that occur regarding the replacement
    that is supposedly a refund for the item. Please be aware that during the
    time of processing, our system has undergone some technical problems. As
    soon us the item arrived in your door steps, we will send you a returns
    authorisation for us to process the refund for the unwanted item.

    Yeah have had problems with them

    I ordered something from them last month which turned up damaged, sent it back for a replacement. It went out of stock so they said they would give a refund. No refund was given and now they are saying they never got the item back, even after they sent me an email saying they had. Wish I stopped using them ages ago.

    They got too big too soon. They were great when they started out just selling DVDs back in 2000.

    They're idiots I stopped using them months ago, I made a thread about it, … They're idiots I stopped using them months ago, I made a thread about it, I ordered 3 things that were in stock, still in stock for another 5+ hours and they cancelled as out of stock and didn't even let me know, only found out cos I logged in online, anyway I complained and got a £10 voucher, used that to buy something that was in stock, same thing happened again. Don't use them anymore unless I have too which I did a few weeks ago, parcel never came, been 15 days so far. They said they've sent out a replacement, whether they have or not I don't know but it's too late now anyway and past when I needed it.




    Jeeez.... This was the last thing I ordered from them - no more am I ordering from them.... Sounds like they're now using an indian email centre

    I would say they are by far my favourite retailer. I've probably spent thousands on their site (I like the layout of the site too)
    They always do cheap prices and out of hundreds of orders, i've had 1 damaged one that was refunded and a few that got cancelled, but i;ve had far worse from other companies.

    Problems here too, will not be using them anymore.

    Not had any problems with Play.com. They have cancelled a couple of items that were obvious price glitches but that was only to be expected. Fast delivery and great prices. No complaints here.

    Had no issue with Play either. I would certainly trust them more than other sites on the web. Them, Amazon and HMV seem pretty reliable. Not tried zavvi/The hut.

    I've had one or two issues, nothing deal breaking (yet) though. That said I do most of my online shopping through Amazon these days.

    On a whole i've been fairly pleased with play, a couple of undelivered items but i dont have a problem with that.

    Best i've found so far for speed has been BestBuy who I think use thehut

    shocking... im still waiting for an order after about 18 days.

    when asking a different question about why it locked the item into "packing" status for about 3 days, which basically meant that i couldnt cancel it... they replied each time quoting delivery policy.

    then they sent me an email to tell me that a courier (city link) had tried to deliver on 2 seperate occasions... this was bull as when i rang city link they said they didnt have anything in my name.

    when emailing this to play... they said they didnt know why i got that email and then quoted delivery policy again.

    usless... customer service would be better from slightly retarded chimps

    credit card hacking at Play has started again. Maybe it links in with the indian call centre?

    The website is **** now. Far too much play trade crap. Wish it went back to their design a year or two ago and no play trade.

    play suck, they use to be good when the first started but its been going downhill from then, i wont be using them again for sure

    I think they have. Years ago, I'd order something from Play.com and have it 2 days later. Now it takes at least 5 days from the date the order was placed.

    they are much worse now then they have ever been, still waiting on a ds game that was ordered in November, they sent the replacement on Dec 6th and now we've got major snow in the valleys so its not going to get here anytime soon, if it does ever arrive i'll be sending it straight back cos i paid the extra and got it in Asda

    TBH never had a single problem, apart from a couple of items arriving over 5 days during the bad weather. Never had damaged and had refunds when sent items back. Will keep an eye out though from now on x

    HaHa i too did this, with 3 items i never recieved, filled in the REFUND claim form, emailed them as they said it would be quicker, and instead of refunding theyve decided to send them out again, when i aint willing to wait, they were able to cancel 2 and refund but one was already being processed, which im still waiting for. Absolutely ridiculous!

    PS im still awaiting an order i placed on 8th December, for Red Dead Redemption, i placed Halo Reach same day, and have recieved that, but still no sign of Red Dead Redemption. The other order im still waiting for is way back from beginning of November, which got lost first time round, so they sent it out again, but still not got it! Once these 2 are sorted,i will never shop with them again!

    I was a bit annoyed that my pre order of Fallout:New Vegas arrived about 5 days after the release date... they take ages to deliver now but other than that it's not been too bad. I agree though, that playtrade is just annoying.

    Much the same as most people here it seems for me as well, I only use Play if they have an exceptional deal that I'm not desperate to get quickly. I find their customer services are very poor even when they've made a mistake which makes it frustratingly time consuming to get sorted out. I tend to use Amazon most of the time at the moment as they're usually competitive on prices but their customer service is excellent, any time I've had unwanted or faulty items they've been extremely prompt to resolve issues.

    Same here, but I got my Red Dead Redemption (PS3) but still waiting on Halo Reach from 8th Dec. & Dead Rising 2 posted 30th Nov., they said they would send out another DR2 but that was over a week ago and still no sign. I've had 1 item go missing in 10 years, back in 2000. This Christmas 2 items out of 5 still not arrived. Was thinking it could be a Royal Mail/postman issue, but with so many people having similar issues I'm thinking this might be my last year with Play.

    Good to hear that I'm not the only one who's having a nightmare with Play - oh well, they just lost another customer.
