USA next week. My son is really miffed about this (not exactly what he said but you get the drift).

Are imports allowed? Or is pretty much impossible to pick up a US model.

Sony have been going pretty hard on the importers, although no doubt you can buy one personally from someone at outrageous cost. Really annoying as it's the same with the PSP, various games I want like Every Extend Extra and Mercury Meltdown which either aren't available here or much cheaper from the likes of Play Asia but they're not allowed to ship here.

Less concerned about the PS3 for now though, nothing of interest to me games wise yet.

John

You can pick up a PS3 on eBay and have it shipped to you if you have about £1,000 to spend.

Amazon are selling Every Extend Extra for £19.99 - Shocked and surprised that Mercury Meltdown doesn't seem to have a UK release. I was convinced that I saw it for sale in GAME just the other day!

apparently, if you can buy a ps3 anywhere in the world you can play it anywhere in the world for example if i buy one from the US i can play english games as well as anyother, there region free. and im going ot canada in mid december by then there should be enough stock flowing. thats a very good thing which sony have done.

this isnt true sarbjeet_ , i dont know who told you that but its def not true,

Japan and the usa use a lower power source so if you brought one across here into the Uk and plugged it in, for a second you would see it come on then it would go off with a deep smell of burning electronic parts and smoke coming out the back

Maybe im wrong but ill have a check on this

admin imports are allowed you just gotta be sneaky like put it in a suitcase which has to be checked in and not in hand luggage. then you should be alright.

It's a mistake on the Amazon site as the game hasn't been released here yet.

Mercury Meltdown has been released here but the cheapest I could get it for was 15 pounds, next cheapest was about 27 pounds. On the other hand, Play-Asia are selling the game for five pounds.

Having been used to being able to order imports as I've wanted in the past, it's frustrating Sony won't allow it with their machines.
