So it's ok to run the event during the biggest pandemic the world has seen in a 100 years but let's cancel it because people are rioting and looting in a few US cities?????

Distracting people from bad news = good.
Distracting people from important message = not so good.

Bit disappointed, but the actual release date probably won’t be affected.
Comments on euro-gamer are hilarious, people in uproar over their 'hobbie' being disturbed
Did they say why?

They postponed it because of the protests and riots in America.

Essentially they have decided that the media focus is on that and they won't get much mainstream coverage for the PS5 in their biggest market. Of course they didn't spell it out like that. They said that it is postponed so that 'more important voices can be heard'.

As the first reply says, it is no big deal we will just hear about things on another day. No need to get mad like some people have.

They unveiled the PS4 when the Syrian Civil war was starting and civilians were being slaughtered. Guess those innocent people didn't matter...

Sony not only kept (and keep) silent about the Hong Kong protests and the people killed/disappeared in that but they actively removed every photo depicting the HK protests from a photography competition they ran. Screw principles when there are Chinese Yuan available..

It annoys me that you have all these countries virtue signal over this whilst ignoring atrocities all over the world. It's not helping, it's stirring up more directionless anger (I've yet to hear anyone actually set out any clear aims for these riots) . With all these worldwide protests during a virus epidemic, they're going to end up killing far more people through corona than have been wrongfully killed by police. 500 people protesting in London is going to have no effect on US policy, it will however have an affect on the spread of infections.

Don't be so silly

The pandemic is going to last months or years and is now a part of current life. Do you really expect the world to come to a complete standstill?

The riots in the usa are quite an important thing happening at present, who knows how or when it'll end.

Gaming IS a hobbie.

But I agree, its stupid to uproar about it since it's not exactly a huge deal, it was just to show off Ps5 games... if it was like a full on show like at E3 etc then I could understand.
