    Playstation Network accounts hacked again.

A lot of people (myself included) have had sign in ID's changed & £50 or more added to the accounts via Paypal, Check your emails for suspicious activity & get in touch with Paypal & dispute the transaction & cancel direct debit with them if applicable.

Paypal can be reached on 0800 358 7911- paypal.com/gb/…all - Expect long waits due to the sheer number of people calling about the same thing.

    Another nail in the coffin

Dunno if it makes a difference but you should turn on 2-step verification. Requires you to enter a code from your phone if you log on to a new device.

when this happened last time . i couldn't access PSN account for about 2 months as i had contacted paypal first and because i did not go to PSN first it caused them an issue that paypal was looking into this and therefore my account was held in process . PSN advised had i gone directly to them my account wouldnt be active the same day i phoned . absolutely ludicrous imo . and said to PSN that this process is not listed anywhere and i'd rather game on xbox than PSN as service is poor

that's what PSN advise to do after you're account is hacked . . surely in some newsletter they should be pushing towards the 2 step verification

Never link my bank or PayPal to mine

Sony are an even bigger nightmare if you get PayPal involved, especially if a charge back is involved

Don't ever chargeback or you can kiss goodbye to your account for a very long time or even for ever!

Seconded! Top up cards, which actually work out cheaper as well, all the way!

Activated 2FA as soon as it went live, you'd be mad not to.

I never knew they had 2FA! Never saw any emails about it nor anything on site. Plenty of emails for crap games on sale I'm not interested in.

Thanks for the heads up. Never leave card details on there now but still have money on redeemed codes to spend.

I'm fairly sure that they did, when 2FA first became available last year.

They did, and I ignored it. I had an easy to remember password because I'm an idiot. Just changed it to a secure password and added it to my password manager. Also now enabled two factor. I didn't get hacked but, after seeing so many of these threads lately, I'm not going to risk it.

My Rockstar account did get hacked a while ago. Weird, as I never used it and didn't have GTA V on it... Twitch too. I never used that either, but it was used to spam FIFA points in chat - first I knew about it was an email telling me I'm banned for malicious behaviour. Recovered both accounts, and it was that experience that made me switch to a password manager for most things. Everything now. X)
