Always be weary of buying expensive instruments for children (most don't stick with it) and might be better to get a cheapish one and see if they stick with it. Then you can upgrade if needed.

yamaha make good entry level guitars.
    try this ]http//ww…QDF

its £22 above your price and come with lots of extras

when i bought my first guitar i was told to go for the best one i could afford, and was reccomended the yamaha pacifica from a session guitarist with over 40 yrs experience
then if he loves it it will do him for a few years and if he ends up hating it then you or your wife have a new hobby

Can't go wrong with the Yam! On elec. and acoust. If you buy carp, it won't get used, and re-sell will be hard, buy a Yam or 2 and always get at least half your cash back on any day.

i bought electric guitar our of asda for 50 and yes it came with an amp this was last christmas but i saw the same guitar there last week

Cheers everyone i thought about spending roughly £50-£60 but i was warned the parts are cheap and they dont stay tuned, etc etc
How is the asda one is it any good because it may be best i suppose getting a cheaper set to see if he sticks with it ,and then get one of the yamaha's

    Couple of electric guitars ]HERE

its not to bad my son was 13 when we bought it cos he was gonna learn how to play it then 6 months down line it gets picked up now and again only cos this year his hoping to get drums (i dont think so lol) bought him rockband for ps3 hopefully he be happy playing drums on this, or guitar and maybe even sing oh i cant wait for a nosy crimbo

same here bought son cheapish electric guitar as with most xmas pressies i am sure with in a month it will be gathering dust. If he does take a shine to it i will then invest in a better one. Until then... noo way !
